Since 2002, Torraspapel has made environment-related investments of over 30 million Euros. Specifically, in the last two years, these investments totaled more than 10 million Euros, most of which was allocated to projects aimed at improving process energy efficiency and reducing by more than 90% odors generated by the pulp plant in the vicinity of the city of Zaragoza. Other noteworthy accomplishments include obtaining PEFC and FSC chain-of-custody certifications, obtaining EMAS environmental management certification, improving effluent quality and reducing wastewater, as well as reducing the solid waste material sent to disposal sites.
