In order to participate, students enrolled in schools belonging to Torraspapel's Partnership program in Spain had to submit a design for a bookmark based on the following theme: "European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009".
The contest was launched last December and has been open to participation for two months. This most recent edition has surpassed all previous editions in terms of the number of participants.
The panel, made up of Graphic Arts and design professionals, as well as Torraspapel representatives, judged the over 300 entries from this year's two categories on their creativity, technical difficulty and overall impact.The participants in this year's edition have shown great creativity and approached the theme from a number of different perspectives.
The winners of the 6th edition of Torraspapel's Design Contest are as follows:
Category 1: Students of Publishing Design and Production. Masters of Graphic Arts.
- First prize: Laura de la Vara Soriano (Universidad Politécnica Valencia)
- Second prize: Anna Raga Giner (Universidad Politécnica Valencia)

Prizes will be awarded to two students in each category. First-prize winners will receive a 16GB iPod iTouch with accessories and second-prize winners will receive an A5 graphics tablet with accessories.
In addition, the first-prize winners' school from each category will receive a commemorative plaque and a check for 1,000 euros, to be used toward the purchase of teaching materials.
