 Torraspapel: Paper for Charity Calendars

 1/19/2012

Torraspapel’s Creator papers have been selected for the calendars published by foundations devoted to promoting reading, education and integration of persons with disabilities.

In keeping with its mission and values of corporate social responsibility, Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, participates on a yearly basis in a number of charitable endeavors. Noteworthy among these social initiatives is the company’s collaboration in the production and distribution of calendars published by non-profit organizations that promote cultural and social ends such as fomenting reading, education and the integration of disabled persons.

With the primary goal of contributing to increasing the social prestige of reading and encouraging reading among the general public, the Fundación Alonso Quijano in Spain publishes an annual “Calendario de la Lectura” (Reading Calendar). Each month features an illustration related to reading and a selected literary quotation. Furthermore, each day of the year contains a reference to a significant date in the life of an author or to holidays or dates commemorating reading or books. The 2012 calendar was printed on 100% PEFC-certified 170-gram and 250-gram CreatorSilk paper.

The Fundación Talita focuses on better integrating people with special educational needs or mental or physical disabilities. To this end, it publishes yearly a calendar in which some of the best-known figures in Spain pose with children with Down’s syndrome. Proceeds from the calendar are used to help families with limited resources to provide their Down’s syndrome children with the best quality of life possible. In the 2012 calendar, printed on 150-gram CreatorSilk and 100-gram CreatorVol paper, familiar faces such as Plácido Domingo, Carolina Herrera, Leo Messi and Spanish basketball star Juan Carlos Navarro, among others, appear.

In the new INOUT calendar, twelve renowned photographers reflect the daily life of the INOUT hostel and restaurant, the first European resort in which 99% of the staff has some kind of disability. Torraspapel supports this pioneering European initiative by collaborating on the INOUT calendar, which is printed on 300-gram CreatorSilk paper.
