Torraspapel, aware that constant innovation and research is vital for the future development of the company, centres its resources on the development and adaptation of new techniques for improving quality, reducing costs and enhancing productivity.

The two R&D centres are specialised in Torraspapel's product lines. At the Sarria de Ter centre (Girona, Spain), research focuses on the production of pulp and paper, coated papers, and Specialty papers including one-side coated and self-adhesives. The centre in Leitza (Navarra, Spain) carries out work involving other Speciality papers: thermal paper, carbonless, metallised and cast-coated. Both boast experienced, knowledgeable teams and are equipped with the most advanced technology.
Their efforts include improving existing processes and products to adapt them to current market needs, thereby providing our clients with better service, as well as developing new products to address evolving market needs, enabling us to expand our scope of business activity.
It is worth highlighting the projects undertaken in Sarria de Ter to increase the brightness of Torraspapel's coated papers, to develop special backings for the self-adhesive line, and to develop new types of adhesive papers.
The main research projects carried out in Leitza have consisted in the development of new thermal paper products, carbonless paper products, Inkjet paper for large-format printers and the development of a range of metallised plastics.
Torraspapel also collaborates with other R&D institutions, both private and public, in achieving common objectives. Currently, for example, collaboration is underway with the University of Barcelona and the head of the Paper Department at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia, both in Spain, in the TECBIOPAP project, co-financed by Ministry of Science and Technology. The project's goal is the development of bio-technical processes for bleaching kraft pulp and reducing the need for chemicals, as part of Torraspapel's environmental protection policy.
