Water, the air we breathe, the earth that sustains our forests and the fire that keeps us warm. These are the four basic constituents of nature that are the central theme for Lecta's Environmental Report for 2006, both visually and conceptually.
Lecta, of which Torraspapel is a member, is one the leading groups in Europe in the production of coated woodfree paper. In addition to Torraspapel, the group includes the Italian company Cartiere del Garda and the French Papeteries de Condat. Collectively, they have a total output capacity of over two million tonnes of coated paper, pulp, specialty papers and base paper.
Achieving a balance between nature and human activity is the cornerstone of Lecta's environmental commitment, which is continuously aimed at eliminating or curtailing any negative effects of our manufacturing activity on our water, air and solid ground, as well as reducing energy consumption (fire).
For this Environmental Report, a comprehensive, painstaking analysis was carried out on the progress made by all three companies in managing sustainability over the period 2003-2005. Lecta's objectives and projects for the future are also set out, with the group's front-running position in environmental stewardship clearly emerging.
As well as being a complete technical document, the Environmental Report also aims to be an aesthetically pleasing example of the use of the company's products as the finest medium possible for effective corporate communication. Consequently, the Report is preceded with a photographic essay on the theme of nature and its classical four constituent elements, produced by the illustrious artist, sculptor and photographer Nils-Udo.
