Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, has taken on a commitment to the environment. As a result, since 2001, Torraspapel has been implementing the Environmental Management System, thus ensuring that production processes respect the environment and are in a continual process of improvement.
The principal activity of the Algeciras mill, located in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, is the manufacture of one-side coated woodfree paper for the labels and flexible packaging industries. The Almazan (Soria) mill, located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, specialises in the production of self adhesive papers. |
The 30 million euros invested in the two plants since 1999 for improvements to facilities and processes have allowed them to incorporate technologically advanced systems, thereby ensuring consistently high levels of quality and improved environmental impact.
In accordance with the environmental policy at Torraspapel, by the end of 2004, the group's nine mills will have obtained ISO 14001 certification of environmental management. At this time, six mills have already been granted certification: Sarria de Ter, Leitza, Zaragoza, Sant Joan les Fonts, Almazan and Algeciras.
Obtaining the ISO 14001 standard ensures the continual improvement of processes, affecting waste management, efficient energy use, control and prevention of emissions, and use of the resources necessary to guarantee that Torraspapel's activities are in full compliance with sustainability criteria.
