Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, is collaborating, once again, on the Calendario de la Lectura ("Reading Calendar") published by Spanish NGO, the Alonso Quijano Foundation, a private, independent, non-profit institution whose honorary president is the Portuguese writer and Nobel Prize winner José Saramago. The Foundation seeks to contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals through cultural and educational initiatives, especially those aimed at encouraging reading. Its main areas of activity are: promotional campaigns to foment reading, the publication of magazines and papers; training events centered on reading, and international cooperation.
In the calendar, an illustration associated with reading accompanies each month of the year, while a renowned writer comments on each photograph. At the same time, every day of the year contains a reference to a significant date in the life of a writer, or commemorations and celebrations related to reading and books.
The Calendario de la Lectura will be distributed free of charge with the purchase of a national newspaper and through sponsoring and collaborating institutions. A total of 50,000 copies have been printed, using various weights of Torraspapel's CreatorSilk paper.
This initiative falls within the framework of Torraspapel's commitment to social responsibility, as reflected in its mission and corporate values. For further details on Torraspapel's activities as a socially responsible company, please visit the RSC section of our website.
