Winners Announced for First Torraspapel Design Contest >May 2004
The two winners, out of over two hundred works submitted, have been selected. This is the first occasion of a prize that we hope becomes a reference point among promising young individuals from the graphic industry.
The jury, made up of design and graphic art professionals, as well as Torraspapel staff, decided that the winning design was that submitted by Larraitz Mendiable Apezetxea, a student at the Fundación Escuela de Artes Gráficas of Guipúzcoa, Spain, who won by virtue of her originality in the use of colour. Second prize was awarded to Gonzalo Navarro Ramos of the IES-SEP Escola del Treball in Barcelona, whose work stands out due to its conceptual simplicity.

The winning prizes consisted, respectively, of an Ibook G4 12" laptop computer and a Kodak Easyshare DX 6440 digital camera, in addition to a diploma accompanied by a check to the schools in the amounts of 1,500 and 1,000 Euros to purchase teaching material.
This first competition's objective was the design of a bookmark inspired by the slogan "A World of Paper", an apparently simple topic which plays a fundamental role in the world of books and design. Our goal was to join two worlds, literature and design, through a bookmark. Participating students have demonstrated notable levels of imagination and creativity.
This initiative, which is part of Torraspapel's Collaboration Project with Graphic Art schools, is yet another example of the company's commitment to culture and education in general and, in particular, to young talent in the graphic industry.
Congratulations to all those who participated!
