Over 90% of Odours Eliminated at Torraspapel's Pulp Mill in Zaragoza, Spain >April 2008 Torraspapel has invested close to 3 million euros in installing a treatment plant for odour-producing gases at its Zaragoza mill.
The new treatment plant, which has been in operation for several months with highly satisfactory results, has made it possible to eliminate odour-causing gas emissions and enable them to be used as an energy source, increasing the efficiency and sustainability of the manufacturing process.
The project is based on three functional aspects of equal importance: capturing the gases at their originating sources, destroying the components that can produce unpleasant odours by low-NOx thermal treatment, and finally, cleaning the combustion gases for emissions control.
This action falls within the framework of the mission and corporate values of environmental sustainability and social responsibility of Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group. If you would like to know more about the company's initiatives aimed at guaranteeing sustainable development, please see the Environment section of our website.
