Winners Announced for the Fourth Torraspapel Design Contest for Graphic Arts Students

The winners have been announced for the IV Edition of Torraspapel's Design Contest.
This contest targeted the 3500-4000 students in the following training cycles: Preprint and Print in Graphic Arts, Publishing Design and Production, and Production in Graphic Arts Industries, at the 29 Spanish schools participating in Torraspapel's Collaboration Project.
With the theme "2007, European Year of Equal Opportunities for All", Torraspapel sought to increase awareness and reflection among the students on the advantages of a fair society, free from discriminatory attitudes and behavior.
In order to participate, students were required to design and submit up to two bookmarks on the proposed theme. One of the requirements was that the design must include the Torraspapel logo and be printable on coated fine paper.
The contest was launched in early December and open to participation for two months.
As a result, we have obtained an ample response with a wide range of works submitted, from newer, more innovative proposals to other more traditional in style.
The jury, made up of graphic art professionals, judged both the creative and technical aspects of the works. Their decision was made last February 28th. The winners of the contest are:
First prize:
Izaskun Saez Velasco from IES Emilio Campuzano in Bilbao.
Second prize:
Ińaki Gonzalez Moraleja from the Escuela Salesianos in Urnieta.
The first prize was an Apple iBook laptop computer and the second a Kodak EasyShare digital camera with a print base, each accompanied by its respective diploma. The schools will receive a commemorative plaque and cheques for 1,500 euros and 1,000 euros respectively, to be used toward the purchase of teaching materials. During the month of May, 4000 copies of the winning bookmark will be distributed.

9th place: Arantza Lertxundi Marante (Centro FP La Safor)
10th place: Alex Parera Martinez (IES Esteve Terradas i Illa)
