5th Torraspapel Design Competition for Graphic Arts Students: 2008 International Year of Planet Earth >December 2007 The 5th Design Competition is closed. On 12 March 2008. the winners will be announced on our website
Climate change, sustainability, the environment... This is not just a trend: it's a very serious matter. We must all become more aware, and commit ourselves to a better present and future for Planet Earth. If we know how, and really want to, it can be done.
With this in mind 400,000 geoscientists from all over the world, brought together under the auspices of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and the UNESCO's Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences, have worked on an initiative culminating in having 2008 proclaimed by the United Nations as International Year of Planet Earth.
The more we know, the more we can do for the Planet, when faced with natural disasters, or in connection with health issues, discovering new natural resources and so on. For that reason, now more than ever before, to know the Planet is to love it.
More than 280 Spanish Graphic Arts students from schools participating in Torraspapel's Collaboration Project have sent in entries on this more-than-inspiring theme.
On 12 March 2008. the jury's verdict will be announced on our website and be sent in writing to the schools. The jury is made up of specialists in the Graphic Arts sector.
Participants' effort and creativity will be rewarded with:
- Fist prize: a MacBook portable computer and a certifying diploma
- Second prize: a Kodak Easyshare digital camera with a printer base, and a certifying diploma.
In addition, the schools at which the first and second prize-winners are enrolled will be given, a plaque and a cheque for 1,500€ and 1,000€, respectively, tbe used toward the purchase of teaching materials for the school.
